The prints in this series are all made by pressing and rolling common items typically found in a workshop. Bolts, springs, steel sections, plastic sheets, rods, hinges, cables and bearings are painted in printing ink and rolled or pressed on paper in an inversion of traditional printing. Through this process new geometries unfold as the objects follow the flat surface of the paper, revealing surprising shapes that have always been there. The development of a drillbit is a series of angled lines – something that seems surprising yet logical at the same time. Compositions are created, exploring the behavior of these objects and their relation to one another – from landscapes to the abstract. The prints reveal the mathematical/scientific aspect of these everyday objects.
